Lawrence Harry Peake passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 79. The son of Royal and Phyllis Peake, Larry was born on Oct 9, 1946 in Ann Arbor, MI. He was the fourth of seven children.
Larry graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in 1965. He attended Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti, MI. Because of his training in business school, while serving in the Army in Vietnam from April of 1967 to Jan. of 1970, he was assigned to what was known as the “Remington Brigade, or Remington Raiders,” referring to the typewriters used in the offices.
Sadly, Larry battled mental health issues much of his adult life, eventually moving from his parents’ care to various care facilities in Battle Creek, MI. During his twenty plus years in Battle Creek he received services and housing at The Harvard House, Steppingstone Adult Care Facility, and finally at The Laurels of Bedford Nursing Home. The family appreciates all their care and thoughtfulness.
He is preceded in death by both parents, his brother, Royal David Peake, and brother-in-law, Lawrence Charles Long.
He is survived by his siblings Claudia Lindman (Harold) of Bloomington, IN, Judy Long of Boiling Springs, SC, Kathy Gallo (Tibor) of St. Paul, MN, Dan Peake (Lynda) of Ann Arbor, MI, and Jon Peake (Janet) of Tipton, MI. He was an uncle to 14 nieces and nephews.
Larry was a kind soul, always friendly and compassionate to others. He enjoyed striking up a conversation, especially at the Griffin Pub and Grill where staff were so kind and welcoming to Larry whenever he would stop in for a coffee and soup. He loved God and always tried to be a good Christian.
Interment will take place at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan on October 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Personal messages for Larry’s family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
