Leona "Grace" Duck

Leona "Grace" (Leib) Duck, 88, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Battle Creek Manor. She was born January 20, 1928 in Sumner, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur A. and Ruth P. (Phillips) Leib. Grace was a 1946 graduate of Lawrence County Schools in Lawrenceville, IL and Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, where she received her License Practical Nursing certificate in 1968.

Grace was united in marriage to Gordon B. "G.B." Duck on October 14, 1943 in Louisville, KY; he sadly preceded her in death on December 26, 1995.

Grace was a LPN, working at Lakeview Hospital for 18 years and then at Mercy Pavilion until their closing. Prior to moving to Battle Creek, she worked at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

Grace was a member of the First Wesleyan Church and a former member of Billet United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, IL. During her retirement, she volunteered at the VA Medical Center. Grace also enjoyed gardening, quilting and crocheting.

Grace is survived by her daughter-in-law, Alberta (the late Gordon) Duck of Battle Creek; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, G.B., Grace was preceded in death by her children, Gordon Duck, Leona Shepard, Randal Duck and Fred Duck.

Funeral services to celebrate Grace's life will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Ft. Custer National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Gordon "G.B".
