Leona Ileen Jones

August 7, 1919 — January 10, 2015

Leona I. (Mason) Jones, 95, formerly of Battle Creek died at Lakeshore Assisted Living in Grand Haven on Saturday, January 10, 2015.

Leona was born in August of 1919 in Lacey, Michigan to Allen "Dick" and Ora (Miller) Mason. She lived most of her life in Battle Creek, 5 yrs in Lansing & the last 8 yrs in Grand Haven/Spring lake, MI. Leona was a 1938 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. She was employed as an
elevator operator at the former Security National Bank, worked in the Classified Department at the Battle Creek Enquirer for 7 yrs, worked as usher at the Old Post Theater & for an insurance company in Lansing. Most of her life was spent as a loving homemaker, dedicated to her family &
their needs.

Leona Ileen Mason married Louis N. Jones on November 2, 1946 in Battle Creek. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, "Louie" on November 22, 2010. Surviving are her daughter, Pamela (Dennis) Nash of Spring Lake, MI; son, Stephen A. (Jan) Jones of Byron Center, MI; 5 grandchildren, Ken Nash, Heather (Nash) Andreasen, Brent, Shelley and Scott Jones & 5 great
grandchildren, Taylor, Silas and Elijah Nash, & Brayden & Tolbin Andreasen, In addition to her husband, Leona was also preceded in death by Rex Mason, her brother from Punta Gorda, Fl.


Leona was a former member of Maple United Methodist Church, Sun City Center Dance Club, and the 3 Square Dance Club. She enjoyed dancing, riding her bicycle, playing cards, going to musicals, loved garage sales, watching TV & exercising in the pool in Sun City Center, FL where she wintered for 30 yrs,


Friends will be received 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be officiated by her grandson, Rev. Ken Nash, following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Committal and entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery & light lunch will be served at the Maple Methodist Church after the committal & entombment.
