LeRoy Dean “Roy” Clark, age 78, of Battle Creek passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday morning, November 29, 2023. He was born in Evart, Michigan on April 18, 1945, the son of LeRoy L. and Jane (Davis) Clark. Roy faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army during Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Medal, Expert (Pistol & Rifle) Badges, Combat Infantry Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal w/ Bronze Star, Military Merit Medal, Army Service Commendation w/ Valor, Vietnam Gallantry Cross and Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ Bar. He retired from the American Logging Tool Co. in Evart in 2005 after more than 25 years. Roy also worked at Dean foods for 15 years, and drove school bus & operated the game clock at football & basketball games for the Evart Public School District for many years.
Roy married Patricia “Pat” Cotterman in Evart on September 29, 1979; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Don (Becky) Clark, Tiffiney (Roger) Skutt, Tina (Tony) VanWert, and Tania (Dorr) Walter; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Pullman; and aunts, Maxine Brackett and Peggy Brackett. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Ricky & Bobby Clark.
Roy was very proud of his country and his military service, and was a longtime member of the V.F.W. Post #7979 in Evart. He was also a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing & spending time with his family. Roy was a very kind and giving man that would give you the shirt off his back.
At Roy’s request, cremation has taken place and interment with full military honors will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 29th at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Battle Creek VA Medical Center.
