Lester "Les" "Hez" Bohn Noel of Gull Lake (Hickory Corners, MI)


Les, age 84, passed away quietly at home Sunday, October 14, 2013. He was the son of Emery and Gertrude (Growcock) Noel and was a life-long resident of Gull Lake

He was a carpenter and cabinet maker all his professional life. He worked for several area contractors and later owned Noel Builders. Late in his career, he worked for Pennock Hospital in Hastings retiring in 1999 at the age of seventy. Les was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and just being in the woods. Les was active in the Gull Lake Ice Yacht Club; a member of the Masons and one of only three still living of the twelve original firemen of the Ross Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Les is survived by his daughter Melinda L. (William) Scott of Kalamazoo, MI; his son, Markley "Mark" B. Noel of Hickory Corners and two grandsons, Noel Corwin of Kalamazoo and Turner Noel of San Francisco, CA. Les was preceded in death by his wife, Janice L. Markley; his daughter-in-law, Anne Turner Noel; a sister and two brothers. He passed away surrounded by those who loved him. He will be greatly missed.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Les' life will be held on Monday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89) with Rev. Rick Stravers, Open Doors Ministry, officiating. Interment will follow at Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township. Family and friends are invited to continue Les' life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon at The Dock at Bayview, 12504 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083. Friends will be received on Sunday, October 20th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Les' honor may be directed to Open Doors, P. O. Box 50102, Kalamazoo, MI 49005-0102.
