Lillian L. (Lord) Mcrae

Lillian L (Lord) McRae, age 92, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at her apartment at NorthPointe Woods Assisted Living in Battle Creek, MI.

She was born July 6, 1921 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Arthur and Blanche (Morehouse) Lord. Lillian graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. Lillian was united in marriage to Finley D. McRae, Jr. on December 27, 1939, and she was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Once her children were in school, she worked at Beadle Lake Elementary School as a cook. After Lillian and Finley retired in 1975, they enjoyed time together at Beadle Lake and traveling around the United States. After Finley's death, Lillian moved to NorthPointe Woods and enjoyed making new friends and participating in the many activities there. Lillian enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, grandkids and friends; knitting doll clothes and caps she donated to infants at the hospitals, travel and, going out to eat; but most of all spending time with her family.

Lillian is survived by her son, Finley Duncan McRae III; two grandsons, Chad (LaToya) Braun and Craig (Christine) Braun; a great-grandson, Finn Braun; a great-granddaughter, Muireall Braun; and a nephew, John (Nancy) Card. Lillian was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Jean Braun in 1985; her brother-in-law, Eugene McRae in 1994; her husband, Finley D. McRae, Jr. in 2002; her sister, Maxine Card-Johnson in 2008; and her son-in-law, Donald G. Braun in 2010.

Friends will be received by Lillian's family 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Jeffery S. Carlson 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at the funeral home. Committal and interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
