Linda Lee Standish, age 81, of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday morning, September 28, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. She was born in Allegan, Michigan on October 17, 1939, the loving daughter of Forest Charles and MettaBelle (Hillman) Peabody and graduated from Martin High School in Stuart, Florida. Linda worked for several years at the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company and Western Michigan University.
Linda married Berwyn "Bergie" Standish on December 22, 1961; he sadly preceded her in death on June 15, 2013. She was also preceded by two sons, Larry Standish on October 19, 2011 and Danny Standish on October 1, 2020; two brothers, Darl Peabody and Fred Peabody; and a sister, Beth Peabody. Linda is survived by her son, Rick Standish of Vicksburg, Mississippi; her daughter, Catherine (Bruce) Murray of Kalamazoo; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Standish of Battle Creek; a brother, David (Stella) Peabody of Plainwell; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Linda had a love of doing things for others. She enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with her family and friends. Her great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at McCallum Church, 5505 Otis Lake Road, Delton, Michigan 49046. Visitation will be prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will be served following the service. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or SPCA of Southwest Michigan in Kalamazoo. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel.
