Linnea Eloise Saffell

Linnea E. Saffell, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 19, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Washington state, but lived the majority of her life in Michigan. Linnea was an elementary and art teacher who was enthusiastic about learning and experiencing various cultures and people.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (George) Spengler and Joanna (Dennis Schultz) Saffell; granddaughter, Melissa (Nathan) Winner; and daughter-in-law, Connie Saffell. Linnea was preceded in death by her parents, Sture and Wanda Johnson; son, Dennis Saffell; and her former husband, Arliss Saffell.

Linnea had a generous spirit and was involved with the churches of which she was a member and in many community groups.

A memorial service to celebrate Linnea's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church (Richland), 8047 Church Street, Richland, MI with Rev. Dr. Mark W. Jennings, officiating. A luncheon and time of sharing will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Richland (Memorial Fund), the P.E.O. Scholar Award, or Reverence Hospice.
