Lois Anne (Thompson) Battilana, age 85, of Augusta died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Staten Island, New York on June 11, 1937 the daughter of Henry and Evelyn (Egbert) Thompson.
Lois was employed as an executive secretary for J. Henry Schroeder Bank & Trust Company in New York City. She also traveled the country with the Hal Sands Manhattan Rockets Dance Troupe in the 1950s.
Lois married Raymond Eric Battilana in Staten Island, New York on April 23, 1960 and was married to Raymond for 50 years before his passing in 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Lori Balasa of Lansing and Sheri (Kevin) of Venice, Florida; a son, Jay (Susan) Battilana of Richland; grandchildren, Samuel Balasa, Alexandra Balasa, Andrew Lemerand, Stephen Lemerand, Jennifer Carroll and Ryan Priestap; sister, Dianne (Brendan) McCahill of Staten Island, New York; sister-in-laws, Joan Thompson of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Irene Passmonick of Mesa, Arizona and Ellen (Chris) Battilana of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 nieces and 1 nephew; 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Battilana, parents Henry and Evelyn Thompson, parents-in-law Andrew and Regina Battilana, brother Ronald Thompson, son-in-law Matthew Balasa and brother-in-law Edward Passmonick.
Lois was a volunteer for the USTA Boys' 16 & 18 National Championships for several years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved the arts. She traveled with her husband Ray, spent the summers on Gull Lake, Michigan and the winters on Siesta Key, Florida. Lois made many cherished memories with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
A private memorial service to celebrate her life has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lois may be made to Centrica Care Navigators, 7100 Stadium Drive Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel.
