Lois "Lucille" Masters

February 18, 1928 — March 10, 2017

Lois "Lucille" Masters, age 89, of Marshall died peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on Friday afternoon, March 10, 2017. She was born in Angola, Indiana on February 18, 1928, the loving daughter of Clyde James and Maude Nina (Waller) Letts. Throughout the years, Lucille worked for Post Cereals and drove school buses for the Union City Schools, but for the majority of her life was a homemaker taking the best of care of her family.

Lucille married the love of her life, Richard C. "Dick" Masters in Angola, Indiana, on February 17, 1951; he sadly preceded her in death on May 16, 2013. Together they enjoyed more than 62 wonderful years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Dennis Keith (Joanne) Masters of Naples, Florida; her daughters, Sandra K. Masters of Kalamazoo and Barbara L. (Ralph) Fitch of Marshall; a granddaughter, Stephanie (Marc) Garlock; and great-grandson, Brendan Garlock. Lucille was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Louis Letts, Virgil Letts, Russell Letts, and Wade Letts; and two sisters, Troas Jacoby, and Betty Aberth; and a special sister-in-law, Donna Willis.

Lucille was a member of the Family Bible Church in Marshall, and was formerly a member of the Church of God in Burlington. She also served as a Den mother, Blue Bird leader, and was a member of the Burlington Quilt Club. Lucille enjoyed sewing (She was a wonderful seamstress!), crocheting, quilting (She made quilts all by hand), traveling, taking long drives in the car, and she loved spending time with her family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to two wonderful caregivers, Jill Carroll and Rose Pierce, for the excellent and loving care provided to Lucille over the past several years. They would also like to thank Oaklawn Hospice--particularly Nurse Joan--for the caring and compassion provided to Lucille and her family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 14, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where funeral services to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, March 15, at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Oaklawn Hospice. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
