Lois M. Sutton, 89, of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility with her family by her side. Lois was born April 13, 1927 in Battle Creek to Arthur and Elsie (Dunn) Hess. She graduated from Lakeview High School and worked at the Kellogg Company for many years before leaving to raise her children. Once her children were older, she returned to Kellogg's until retiring.
Lois lived in Battle Creek all of her life and enjoyed traveling to see her kids. She was a member of the Singapore Yacht Club and the Riverside Country Club. She loved to boat and play golf. She also volunteered at the hospital.
Lois is survived by her two children, Richard (Jara) Sutton of Battle Creek and Sally (Mike) Williamson of Ninety Six, S.C.; grandchildren Richard Sutton Jr., Andrew Sutton, Patrick Williamson, Tommy Williamson, Sarah Williamson and Michael Williamson; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Joann Silber and many nieces and nephews.
Lois married Chester Sutton on January 22, 1947. He sadly preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Kay Sutton; two brothers, Donald and Robert Hess; a brother-in-law, Rance Silber and a nephew, Robert Hess.
Funeral services to celebrate Lois' life will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, officiated by Pastor Chad M. Parmalee of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
