Lorence "Larry" Huggett

Lorence "Larry" Huggett, 99, of Kalamazoo, MI, died peacefully Monday June 21, 2021, with his family at his side.

Larry the son of John & Florence (Huggett) Chenery was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 31, 1922. He was raised by his grandparents Charles & Sarah Huggett. In 1941 he graduated from Richland Agriculture School and enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and honorably served his country until 1945.

Larry was united in marriage to Marian M. Fisk on April 11, 1943 and she preceded him in death on February 23, 2009. Surviving are daughters, Diana K. Smith of Galesburg MI, Bonnie L. (Brian VanDeusen) Kuepfer of Augusta, MI; sons, Larry A. (Laura) Huggett of Stevensville, MI and Ronald L. (Brenda) Huggett of Augusta, MI; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren with one due in August, and three great great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Hahn; brother, Dick Chenery and son-in-law, Bob Smith.

In 1987 he retired after 30 years from Continental Linen in Kalamazoo. MI. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time at his trailers in Newaygo, MI and Lakeland, Fl. He also enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, fishing, flying his plane, dune buggy riding and watching the Detroit Tigers. He was a life member of the Eastern Star until 2005.

Graveside services to celebrate Larry's life will be on July 15, 2021, at noon at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Ft. Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. Family and friends will continue Larry's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the graveside service at The Dock at Bayview.
