Lorin Clark Oversmith, 82, of Battle Creek, Michigan died at home, comforted by his family at his side.
Lorin was born October 14, 1939 in Battle Creek to Lorin Austin and Emma Florence (Fruin) Oversmith. He was a 1958 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Lorin proudly served his country in the Air National Guard from 1957 to 1963. He retired from the Kellogg Company in 1994 after 34+ years of dedicated service. After retirement, Lorin was president of the Kellogg Picnic in Alamo, Texas.
He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Bedford Township. He was also a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club, Hastings Moose Lodge and a Gideon Bible Member. Lorin and his wife Julie together had remodeled 28 rental units that they owned and operated. They also owned and operated Professional Carpet Systems for many years. He enjoyed boating, golfing, going on cruises, water skiing, scuba diving and traveling. Lorin and Julie were winter Texans and enjoyed going to Texas every winter since he retired and even building a home there that he designed. He attended most of his BCCHS reunions and was the MC one year.
Lorin was formerly married to Saundra (Bailey) Oversmith. Lorin was united in marriage to Julie Ann (Stowell) Landon on December 30, 1983. Lorin had a deep love for all of his family and always said he was so blessed to have each of them. Surviving are his wife, Julie Oversmith; daughter, Carol Ann (Tim) Berridge of Martin; son Lorin C. (Kristi) Oversmith, Jr., of Davenport, FL; and daughter Felicia Dione (Landon) Cook of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Aundria (Jeff) Meyer, Amy (Kevin) Brandes, Amber (Matt) Dombrowski, Allyson (Jeff) Salmon, T.J. (Kristina) Berridge, Marcus Cook, Kloey Oversmith and seventeen great-grandchildren (and one more due in the spring); three sisters, Marlyne Groves, Mary Ann (Chuck) Cook, Patricia (Dale Martin) Paul all of Battle Creek; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Lorin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law Kenneth Groves and Phillip Paul, Sr. and nephew Greg Stowell.
Friends will be received 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2022.
