Louella A. Cornell

Louella A. "Lou" Cornell, 71, of East Leroy, died January 31, 2016. Lou was born July 16, 1944 in Charlotte to Herbert and Lelia (Bissett) Pifer. She graduated high school and worked in the insurance industry for many years, retiring from Allied Insurance. Lou was a very hard working person. She loved to read and take care of her cats.

Lou is survived by her son, Dennis Cornell; two sisters, Elaine Dann and Myrna Cowell; a brother, John (Sandy) Pifer, a grandson, Dusty Cornell, and nephews Joe and Rob (Sarah) Pifer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Hess, a sister, Dorothy Shriver, and her parents.

Funeral services to celebrate Lou's life will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, officiated by Rev. James S. Codde. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery.
