Luis Alvarez-Mendez, 64, of Battle Creek, died March 7, 2026. Luis was born on October7, 1961 in Vedado, Cuba to Isaac Alvarez and Clara Mendez. He graduated from high school and at age 19 and decided he would come to the United States. Luis worked hard at learning the English language and made a life for himself here in the States. He loved United States and loved his country Cuba.

Luis held many jobs, including security, EHS, and worked as a chauffeur for Greg’s Car Service/City cab in Battle Creek, a job he held for a total of 17 years. Luis enjoyed time fishing and was an avid fisherman, He loved to spend time with his family and friends fishing. He was a good cook, also loved to cook, and eat big plates of food due to his love for eating.

A jokester, he could always get those around him to laugh. He was a very talented singer and had uploaded many songs to YouTube. Luis was a very calm and caring/emotional person and will be missed by all who knew him.

Luis is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Frederick, Mother-In Law, Leatrice Dunklin; children, Jack (Chauntell) Rucker, Matthew Frederick, Alex Graves, Kasheen Kellis, Cecilia Frederick, Lacilia Frederick, Evonna Evans, Cindy Meints; Brothers/Sisters, Caridad Fernadez Mendez, Gladys Fernandez Mendez, Angel Michel Dias Mendez, Consuelo Diaz Mendez, Renardo (Etta) Frederick, Jerome Frederick and many grandkids, nieces, nephews, extended families/family members here in the United States and Cuba.
