Lynn DeRushia, 86, of Battle Creek, Michigan died at home on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
Lynn was born June 29, 1939, in Battle Creek, Michigan to Elwynne and Suzanne (Riste) DeRushia. He attended Battle Creek Central High School and played trumpet in the marching band and orchestra. Lynn worked for the B. C. Enquirer and News and Bailey Park Meat Market for three years and was employed at Michigan Carton for ten years. Lynn retired from United Steel and Wire Company after 37 years as a supervisor. He enjoyed building bird houses, bird and squirrel feeders and gave most of them away. He enjoyed cooking, golfing, hunting and fishing in the Upper Peninsula on Lake Gogebic with his cousins, Gary, Chico and Tom Riste; and hunted Partridge when they were not fishing. He enjoyed hosting pig roasts for family and friends. He liked the winter months, getting outside blowing the driveway and keeping his bird feeders filled up. Lynn loved Western History of any kind. He would record and watch any kind of western movie. He was interested in the war between the Union and the Confederacy 1861 to 1865. He loved animals, especially his dog, Tramp that he had for eighteen years and his dog, Sasha. Lynn rescued seven cats, a baby racoon and a pot belly pig over the years.
Lynn was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 299, Battle Creek, the Polish National Alliance (PNA), the American Legion Post 298 of Battle Creek and the Moose Lodge 676 of Marshall.
Lynn was married three times, three years to Susan McCloud of Battle Creek; seventeen years to Mary Ann Harrington of Marshall and divorced. He married Lorraine Jean Kolacki in 1981, from Cadillac, Michigan. Lynn took care of her for several years after she came down with Dementia.
If you needed help he was willing to be there. Lynn blew the snow out of a neighbor’s driveway for seven years and mowed their front yard and never asked for payment. He liked sitting on the deck in the evening, enjoying a cocktail sitting in the summer months. He was always told he made the best Bloody Marys, so he did.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; two sons, Steve (Theri) Isaacs of Florida, Michael DeRushia of Greenville, MI, stepson, Jeff (Connie) Anderson of Cadillac, MI; brothers, Randy (Anne) DiVitto, Giovanni (Beverly) DiVitto, and Raffaele (Paty) DiVitto all of Battle Creek; a daughter-in-law, Elice DeRushia; sister, Cherie Curson of Florida; granddaughters, Hanna Segers, Heidi Curry, Holly Isaacs, Pricilla Matthews, Abby Fowler; and Blair McAllister, grandsons, Brandon DeRushia, Michael DeRushia and Joshua Anderson; and numerous cousins nieces nephews and their families.
