Dolly, age 84, passed away Sunday evening, July 19, 2015 at The Oaks of NorthPointe Woods, following a lengthy illness and surrounded by her loving family.


Dolly, the daughter of Paul and Mildred (Swartz) Goss was born in Marietta, PA on June 4, 1931 and moved to Battle Creek in 1963 with her husband, Bud and their 3 daughters. She grew-up in Marietta, PA; was active with cheerleading and field hockey in high school and was a 1950 graduate of Donegal High School in Mt. Joy, PA. Dolly was a Property Disposal Specialist at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center of Battle Creek, retiring in 1991 after 30 years of faithful service. After retirement, she and Bud traveled extensively during the winter months until her first stroke in 2006. Dolly was a very active member of the Pennfield Presbyterian Church and also with the Pennfield Band and Athletic Boosters of Pennfield High School, while her daughters attended there. She and Bud were members of several dance clubs through the 60's and 70's, to include the Battle Creek Mardi Gras Society.


Dolly was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clair E. "Bud" Martin in Marietta, PA on August 13, 1950 and he sadly preceded her in death on December 17, 2011 after 61 years of wedded bliss. Surviving are their three daughters, Cheri' L. (Edward) Reece-Calkins of Galesburg, MI; Monica S. (John) Reineke of Powell, OH and Jamie L. Doss of Pickerington, OH; seven precious grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher and Nicholas Reece; Kaitlyn an Kortney Doss and Sidney and Jordan Reineke; and her sister, Jean Monchak of Columbia, PA. Dolly was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Evelyn Goss, Betty Monchak and Martha Drager and a brother, Charles Goss.


Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23rd at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. The Memorial Service to celebrate Dolly's life will be held on Friday, July 24th at 10:30 a.m. in the Pennfield Presbyterian Church, 7979 St. Marys Lake Road, Battle Creek (49017) with the Rev. Douglas R. Nettleton, Pastor, officiating and followed by a luncheon for family and friends. Interment next to her beloved husband, Bud will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, immediately following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dolly's honor may be directed to the Pennfield Presbyterian Church.
