Madelyn "Maddy" Watts

Madelyn Rebecca Moore Watts passed away July 22,2021 at the age of 102, having danced her last dance and played her last hand of bridge.

Madelyn "Maddy" was born Dec. 2,1918 to Carl and Dorothy (Belfast) Moore. She attended Battle Creek schools and graduated from Lakeview High School. She attended Battle Creek College.

Maddy married Howard "Howdy" Watts on July 30, 1937,in the First Congregational Church in Battle Creek, by Dr. Carleton Brooks Miller. They had one child, a daughter, Susan. Maddy worked for Marshall Hlatko at State Farm Insurance. In 1959 Maddy and Howdy moved to St. Joseph, MI when Howdy bought the Hildner Oil Company in Benton Harbor, MI.

After retirement they moved ack to Battle Creek in 1982, Maddy was active in the Community Hospital Hospital Auxillary, serving as Secretary. She was also a member of the First Congregational Parish Circle. She was a member of the Town Hall Board and the Women's Social Club, where she served as president, as did her Mother, Dorothy Moore. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Maddy was preceded in death by her husband Howard and brother, Carlton "Carl" Moore of Lincoln, NE and Tarpon Springs, FL. Maddy is survived by her daughter Susan "Sue" of Battle Creek, and dear friend Dave Davenport of Lincoln, NE and Tarpon Springs, FL.

Per Maddy's wishes, no services are planned. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan or to Helping Hands. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
