Margaret Anne Flechtner

October 18, 1940 — July 29, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Margaret Anne Flechtner, of Richland, MI on July 29, 2024 at the age of 83.

Born in Highland Park, MI on October 18, 1940 to the late Francis Clay and Elizabeth Irons. Margaret spent her childhood dancing with the Girl’s Scottish Dance Troupe, where she traveled and made lifelong friends in Carol and Barb. Following her graduation from High School, Margaret met her future husband, and father to her children, David. Margaret and David shared 49 years of love, raising their three children, and watching them start families of their own. Margaret was preceded in death by David, who passed away in 2010 following a long battle with MS. Later in life, Margaret once again found love in her long-time friend, Mel Strobel. The two traveled the country together, from the bustling streets of coastal cities to the serene landscapes of the Alaskan countryside, they embraced each journey with enthusiasm and curiosity. Though their time together was brief, it was filled with adventure and deep affection until Mel's passing in 2015. An avid traveler, Margaret had a passion for exploring new places and experiencing the beauty of the world.

Margaret lived a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication to her family. Margaret was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a woman of great strength and resilience. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she found immense joy in the moments spent with her loved ones.

Margaret’s legacy of love and adventure lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and countless friends. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Karin (Jessy), Craig, and Kevin (Amanda); grandchildren, Kristin, Sarah, Nathan, Matthew, Avery, and Brady; sister, Nanci (Dick) and sister-in-law, Joyce, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on August 10th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home in Richland, MI at 12:00 p.m., where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and share stories of her remarkable journey. Family will receive friends an hour prior at 11:00 a.m.

Margaret Flechtner’s life was a testament to the power of love and the joy of discovery. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit continues to inspire all who knew her.
