Margaret Elizabeth (Dennis) Jenney, 79, of East Leroy, died April 17, 2016, after a more than 40-year battle with MS. Margaret fought courageously to live until her 60th wedding anniversary with her husband, Ray, but fell just short by four hours.
Margaret was born June 11, 1936, in Battle Creek to Edward and Doris (Culbert) Dennis. She married Ray on April 18, 1956, and worked many jobs, her favorite as a library aide at Sonoma Elementary School. Her main passion in life, however, was being a homemaker. She loved her children and granddaughter. She was also a mom to band kids and athletes at Harper Creek High School for many years in the mid-1970s. Having a loving and caring heart, Margaret babysat nearly every child in the neighborhood.
Margaret enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. She held a special place in her heart for animals, especially her Great Dane, Ike.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Ray; their two children, Ray (Karol) Jenney III of Battle Creek and Patricia (Thomas) Fetters of Brownstown; a granddaughter, Sarah Michelle Fetters of Durham, N.C.; her sister and best friend, Ann Hanke of East Leroy; two brothers, Carl (Barbara) Dennis of Battle Creek and Milton (Sue) Dennis of Climax; a sister-in-law, Nancy Clow of Delton, and her lifelong friend, Sylvia Newman of South Lyon.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters; a brother-in-law, Rolland Hanke; sister and brother-in-law, Mavis (David) King; brother and sister-in-law, Edward (Norma) Dennis; and brother, Robert Dennis.
