Margaret "Marge" Patton

August 18, 1926 — August 27, 2013

Margaret "Marge" Patton of Climax passed away peacefully in her home with her family and loved ones by her side on August 27, 2013, which was also her mother's , Arlene McCoy's, birthdate. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence McCoy of Black River, her mother Arlene McCoy of Battle Creek, her brother Jack McCoy of Alpena and step-daughter, Tao Smith.
Margaret was born in Alpena, Michigan in 1926 and moved to Battle Creek after High School. In 1946, she married Jack Mallette, who passed away in 1962. In 1978, she married Leroy (Pat) Patton, who passed away in 2002. She raised and is survived by her two daughters, LaNeva (Charles) Piper and Connie (Ray) Hervey; three grandchildren; Tara (Jason) Killian, Zachary (Melissa) Piper, and Dr. Hilary (Brian) Setlak and had five great -grandchildren whom she loved very much. She also leaves step-children, Judy (Jerry) Meulman and Jimmy (Carol) Patton.
Marge was the sole proprietor of the Real McCoy Restaurant and managed the well-known Arlene's Truck Stop of which she became sole owner in 1997. In 2000 Marge retired from the restaurant business to devote more time to her family. In her younger years, she loved to travel with her husband Pat. Most recently, she spent quality time with her family and close friends at home and out on the lake taking boat rides.
Marge very much enjoyed time she spent with her dear friends whom she met for lunch and dinner dates, gambling trips to Michigan's various casinos, or even road trips up north to reminisce her childhood years. We the family would like to thank all of her friends who have cared for her during the past few months, stayed overnight, or even stopped by to visit and chat. You have helped to make these last few months both special and memorable for all.
Lastly, contrary to popular belief she never dyed that beautiful head of red hair, which also had perfect silver highlights as she aged.
A visitation will be held 5-8 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, 105 Capital Ave. N.E, where funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 30, 2013 with Rev. James Carey of the Ft. Custer Chapel officiating. A private interment is planned at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a memorial contribution to American Cancer Society or Lifespan.
