Margaret Ann "Margie" (Copley) Steele of Battle Creek, MI




Margie, age 87, passed away on Saturday morning, November 23, 2013 in her home with her family by her side.


Margie, the daughter of Nebert E. and Myrtle (Browning) Copley, was born in McCarr, Kentucky on June 21, 1925. Margie is survived by husband of 68 years, Clyde J. Steele and her daughters, Martha Ann Steele of Pocatello, ID and Susan Marie Steele of Kalamazoo, MI. She was preceeded in death by her parents; her brothers, Edgar Copley, Bernise Copley and Bo Copley and her beloved dogs, Moe and Musette. Margie achieved her Bachelor Degree in Home Economics from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia and taught school in West Virginia. Margie was an artist, having many hobbies, including porcelain painting and was very knowledgeable in porcelain doll collections, porcelain restoration and antiques. She was an avid china painter having affiliations with The World Organization of China Painters, the Michigan World Organization of China Painters and the Michigan Artists Association, Lakeshore Chapter.


As per her Margie's request, cremation has taken place and final interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI at a later date. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek is in charge of all the arrangements.
