Margit Ellen (Blankenagel) Naesset

June 2, 1936 — December 17, 2022

Margit Ellen (Blankenagel) Naesset, 86, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away after succumbing to Alzheimer's Disease.

Margit was born June 2, 1936 in Weilburg an der Lahn, Germany, the daughter of Heinrich and Elsa (Stein) Blankenagel. She grew up in Schupbach, Germany, and graduated from Weilburg Hochschule. Margit was employed as an executive secretary for Clark Equipment Company in Brussels, Belgium in the Industrial and Construction Machinery Division (MICHIGAN) from 1960 to 1966.

Margit E. Blankenagel was united in marriage to John J. Naesset, who also worked for Clark Equipment Company, on June 3, 1966 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, West Germany. In 1967, they moved to Brussels and began a family. In 1971, John was transferred back to Battle Creek. Margit taught gymnastics at the Y-Center in Battle Creek during the 1970's and early 1980's. She enjoyed spending her Fridays at garage sales with her friend, Marge Pattison. Margit enjoyed traveling. She was a ridiculously avid reader. Margit will be remembered as a great debater; and cooking for and entertaining guests.

Sadly, Margit was preceded in death by her husband, John, on December 9, 1988. Surviving are three sons, Otto Naesset (from John's prior marriage to Dorthe Naumann), Sven-Erik Naesset and Mark Naesset all of Battle Creek; a grandson, Michael Naesset of Battle Creek and two sisters-in-law, Sonny Blankenagel and Renate Blankenagel. In addition to her husband, Margit was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dr. Hans Blankenagel and Claus Blankenagel.

A memorial service to celebrate Margit's life will be held in the spring of 2023. Arrangements will be announced later.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Central Michigan, 2500 Watkins Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49015. Arrangements are by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care. Personal messages for Margit's family may be placed in the Memory Book at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
