Marie J. (Nottke) Burt, 87, of Coldwater and formerly of Battle Creek died at Grand Vista Assisted Living in Coldwater on Sunday, June 5, 2016.
Marie was born May 24, 1929 in Elkhart, Indiana to Carl and Florence (Seibert) Nottke. As a child she moved to Battle Creek with her family and attended Battle Creek Central High School. Marie was employed in the Kelpaco packaging offices at the Kellogg Company for 23 years, retiring in 1993.
Marie was united in marriage to Eugene E. Burt on November 9, 1948 in Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, on January 12, 1970. Surviving are two daughters, Ann M. (Gary) Lyon of Coldwater and Genine A. DeMaso of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Kimberly A. (Jen Mapes) Lyon of Coopersville, Kristin (Julie) Lyon-Welch of Coldwater, Summer (Alan) Pryor of Sarasota, FL, Corrine Price of Battle Creek; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Marie was also preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, a brother, Richard Nottke and a sister, June Reed.
Marie has always been a devote member of a church, including Pennfield United Brethren, First Wesleyan and The Gathering. She was an avid bowler and golfer and participated in numerous leagues over the years. Marie also enjoyed traveling, crocheting and needlepoint. She loved her family and especially the holiday get-togethers.
Friends will be received 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services to honor Marie's life will be officiated by Pastor Chuck Winter at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
