Marie Ellen (Wiseman) Palmer

January 9, 1949 — October 13, 2023

Battle Creek,

Marie Ellen (Wiseman) Palmer, 74, of Battle Creek, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 13, 2023. She passed away at home with her family by her side.

Marie was born on January 9, 1949 in Brighton, Michigan to Charles Odell “Chuck” and Edna Mae (DeWolf) Wiseman. At age three, she moved from Hamburg, Michigan to Battle Creek. Marie was a 1967 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and earned her Associates degree in Accounting from Kellogg Community College where she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International. She began her career in accounting at Danielson, Schultz & Co. P.C., which later became Plante & Moran. She retired from Plante & Moran after 42 years, with the lowest employee number (“#39”).

Marie Ellen Wiseman was united in marriage to Lucky Lee Palmer on October 24, 1970, at Central Christian Church. They shared nearly 53 years of loving marriage together. Surviving are Marie’s husband, Lucky Palmer; their children, Tim (Terri) Palmer of Battle Creek, Todd (Heather) Palmer of Seymour, TN, Michelle Palmer of Battle Creek; six grandchildren, Adam (Brie Burke) Palmer, Morgan (Logan) Browning, Lauren Palmer, Toby Palmer, Hadley Palmer, Evan Cline; siblings, Alan Wiseman of Battle Creek, Dianne (Bob) Rogers of East Leroy, Bryan (Laurie) Wiseman of Battle Creek, Terry Wiseman of Ceresco; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Marie was preceded in death by her mother and father and sister-in-law, Millie Wiseman.

Marie was an undeniably faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, her church and community. Marie’s Christian faith was an essential part of her life. She was a member of Central Christian Church since childhood. Over the years, she was a Sunday School teacher, Youth Group leader, Vacation Bible School teacher, Chairperson of the Finance Committee, church treasurer, and was involved numerous other church functions, youth outings, and countless pool parties. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being surrounded by her large, loving family. In her retirement, Marie spent time volunteering for many years at Riverside Elementary School and, most recently, Calhoun Christian School. She enjoyed having dinners and playing Euchre with her fellow retirees from Plante & Moran. She also enjoyed vacationing in Daytona Beach, the Smoky Mountains, going to Disney World and other amusement parks to ride every single ride. Marie will be remembered for her faith and as a truly kind, self-less and loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend who always looked for the positive in everything and always saw the best in others. Though she will be dearly missed here on earth, all who know her may take solace in knowing that Heaven has gained an angel.

Friends and family will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Central Christian Church, where a service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. October 21, 2023.
