Marilyn Ann (Rogers) Hicks of Battle Creek, MI

Marilyn, age 88, died Friday morning, November 22, 2019 at the Laurels of Bedford, Battle Creek, following a lengthy illness.

Marilyn, the daughter of George and Nettie (Mills) Rogers, was born in Marshall, MI on September 18, 1931; was a lifetime area resident and a 1949 graduate of Tekonsha High School. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek. Before Alzheimer's, mom enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, collecting bells & angels and cooking for her family.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Alan Gilbert Hicks in Sheridan, MI on July 22, 1950. Surviving is her husband of 69 years, Alan; two daughters, Eileen K. (Mike) Roan of Zephyr Hills, FL and Robin S. (Dwayne) Vedder of Charlotte, MI; two sons, Alan John "AJ" (Sylvia) Hicks of Athens, AL and Michael D. (Brenda) Hicks of Hudsonville, MI; twelve precious grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and a sister, Donna June Richardson of Marshall. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and four brothers.

Marilyn's family will greet friends on Monday, November 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. The Funeral Service to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Pat J. Weatherwax, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Family and friends will continue Marilyn's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the service in the First Presbyterian Church Social Hall. Final interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Homer, MI, at a later date. Memorial contributions in honor of Marilyn may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 200 Turwill Lane, Suite 6, Kalamazoo, MI 49006.
