Marilyn June Taylor, age 84, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday morning, April 1, 2018 at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 10, 1934 to Edwin and Clara (Priester) Huegli. Marilyn graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1952 and went on to work for the Office of Consul at the Federal Center for 36 years, retiring in 1995, and was inducted into the Federal Center Hall of Fame.
Marilyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Women Missionary League. She was a tutor in the reading program at Ann J. Kellogg School and volunteered at the Y Center. Along with her daughter Jodie, they were one of the first mother-daughter volunteers. Marilyn enjoyed travelling, playing bridge, bowling, skiing, and spending time with her family and many friends.
Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Charlene (Jim) Sickinger of Naples, FL and Jodie (John) Burdette of Shelbyville, MI; five grandchildren, Mallory (Keith) Martin-Ferguson, Jimmy (Anna) Sickinger, John (Lauren) Burdette, Jordan Burdette and Justin Burdette; and five great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Taylor; her daughter, Susan Martin one brother and two sisters.
A memorial service to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7th at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Battle Creek where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
