Marion Gillette

Marion Gillette, age 92, a long-time resident of Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 21, 2022. Marion was preceded in death by her mother, Madge Thomas Gillette; two brothers, Art and Dale Gillette; and special aunt, Grace Thomas Treadwell; and many other dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Marion is survived by special cousins Joan, Patty, Kaye, Joyce, Jerry and Sherrie; many other beloved cousins; and special friends Rosie and Don; many other dear friends.

Marion was a loving and generous person, devoted to family and friends. We will miss her independent spirit, ability to rise above life's challenges, and her fine example of seeing the good in other people. Marion enjoyed correspondence and phone conversations with loved ones. Marion loved outings, and had special memories of childhood camping trips and pony rides, visiting out-of-state relatives, trips through Amish country and Western Michigan, visiting relatives' farms and gardens, spring flower tours, fall color tours, boating, and blueberry picking.

Marion loved fresh waffles, donuts, and treats. Marion loved animals, especially her kitties, and also horses, dogs, and birds. A highlight each year (when able) was to visit the Calhoun County Fair. Marion loved listening to country music, and watching musicals, westerns, Elvis movies, Little House on the Prairie, Daniel Boone, and the Waltons.

Marion enjoyed her friends at the senior residence where she lived, and also the resident dogs. She had many friends at the senior center where she really enjoyed playing Bingo and dice games. Marion loved Gospel music and looked forward to being reunited with family and loved ones in Heaven. Marion's extended family appreciates everyone who lovingly cared for Marion and the kindnesses that made her life better.

A graveside service to celebrate Marion's life will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2022 at Joy Union Cemetery in Lacey, MI. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
