Marjorie Ruth (Richardson) Ray Kiehart

Marjorie Ruth Kiehart, 84 of Battle Creek died Thursday, May 14, 2020, at the Laurels of Bedford after numerous health problems and a courageous fight with COVID-19.

Marjorie was born September 7, 1935 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Robert and Edith LaFern (Hall) Richardson. She was raised in Battle Creek, attended W.K. Kellogg Junior High and graduated from Lakeview Highs School. Marjorie was employed as a cook at the former Spa Steak House at the corner of W. Columbia and 20th Street.

Marjorie was formerly married to Jim Ray, who survives and to James A. Kiehart, who preceded her in death in 1992. Surviving are two daughters, Joanie (Charles) Bowers of Kalamazoo, Judy Ray of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Heide) Craven of Texas; a niece and two nephews and two former sons-in-law, Larry Norcross and Steve Worm. In addition to her husband, Marjorie was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Ray; daughter, Linda Worm; a sister, Florence Hunter and a niece, Mary Hunter.

Marjorie was a talented artist and seamstress, a career she onetime wanted to pursue, but instead raised her family. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards, telling jokes, watching TV and listening to country music. Marjorie was an excellent cook and enjoyed working in her flower beds.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, a private service will be held for Marjorie's family 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
