Marjorie Elise (Embury) Soderlund

November 2, 1927 — December 3, 2015

Marjorie E. (Cameron) Embury Soderlund, 88, of Battle Creek died at Bronson Battle Creek on Thursday, December 3, 2015.

Marge was born November 2, 1927 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Gordon and Virginia "Vera" (Gregson) Cameron. She grew up in Battle Creek and was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Marjorie raised and lovingly cared for her family. She was employed as a telephone operator for Michigan Central Bell Telephone, was an operator at Percy Jones General Hospital supporting our troops, employed by Doud & Co. accounting services and worked the switchboard at the Kellogg Company.

Marjorie was preceded in death by two husbands, Cecil K. Embury on March 23, 1969, and by Clarence H. "Suds" Soderlund on October 13, 1997; a step-son, Russell Soderlund; a daughter, Cecilie A. Embury; and two brothers, George Cameron and Gordon Gregson "Greg" Cameron. Surviving are three daughters, Janet (Tom) Lupke of Indianapolis, IN, Karen (Don) White of Augusta, Michele "Micki" (Russ) Bortell of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was a member of the Sweet Adelines, the First Congregational Church and its Suzanna Winslow circle. She was a charter member of the Binder Park Zoo. Marjorie enjoyed bowling and golfing and played in area leagues. She and her husband Suds traveled worldwide. Marjorie also enjoyed feeding the birds and watching her humming birds. She loved the outdoors, worked in her yard and mowed her lawn into her 80's. She always looked forward to her weekly outings with her Kellogg retirees group and keeping in touch with her Australian friends, John and Ann Kennedy. Marjorie will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend.

Friends will be received the hour prior to the service for Marjorie. A memorial service for Marjorie will be officiated by Rev. Thomas J. Ott at the First Congregational Church 12:00 Noon Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Marjorie will be interred next to Suds at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
