Marjy Irene (Rice) Weitting, age 88 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2014 at Friendship Village Health Center, Kalamazoo, MI & also under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
She was born in Battle Creek, MI to Clayton & Dorothy (Ashley) Rice on December 20, 1925. She graduated from Lakeview High School, and was employed at the Lakeview State Bank where she met her husband-to-be. She married Dale Weitting on August 23, 1946. Marjy later was employed with the 37th District Court of Calhoun County, and retired after 21 years.
Surviving are her daughter Marcia (Richard) Tangwall, a son Douglas (Karen) Weitting; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sister Ruth Anne (George) Tyler, and a brother Richard (Marlene) Rice. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale of 65 years, and her parents.
Marjy was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo and served in the mail ministry, as a greeter, and faithful prayer warrior. She was also a member of Gideons International Auxiliary. She was a former member of Battle Creek Bible Church, and Factoryville Bible Church where she sang in the choir, was involved in Women's Ministry, and taught Sunday School. She also taught Child Evangelism 5 day Clubs in her home.
Visitation will begin at 10 am. with memorial service to follow at 11 am. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek. Marjy's family would like to thank the Friendship Village Health Center Staff, and the Great Lakes Caring Hospice Staff for their kindness and excellent care. Arrangements are by Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church Missions Fund, or The Gideons.
