Marlene Rae Lucas

Marlene Rae Lucas, age 56, of Battle Creek sadly passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, July 17, 2021. She was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on March 14, 1965, the loving daughter of Richard C. And Ella F. (Wadsworth) Lowe, Sr. Marlene graduated from Lakeview High School with the Class of 1983 and furthered her education at Kellogg Community College. She was employed by the Calhoun County Friend of the Court, and had previously served with the Goodwill Industries/Michigan Works WIA Youth Program for several years.

Marlene married Clifford P. "Cliff" Lucas in Battle Creek on March 26, 1992; he survives. She is also survived by her children, Patrick Steven (Lorraine) Lucas of Battle Creek, Anna Claire Lucas and Daniel Robert Lucas, both of Los Angeles, California, and Elizabeth Faye Lucas of Battle Creek; her parents, Richard & Ella Lowe of Battle Creek; her mother-in-law, Bernadine P. Lucas of Battle Creek; two brothers, Richard (Carrie) Lowe Jr. and John (Brenda) Lowe, both of Battle Creek; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins. Marlene was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mable & Grover Lowe and Grace & Alva Wadsworth; and her father-in-law, Robert Leroy Lucas.

Marlene was very devoted to her family and loved helping the children in the WIA Youth Program. She also enjoyed reading, watching Crime TV, playing cards, and of course spending time with her family & friends.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 26th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where services to celebrate Marlene's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials directed to American Heart Association, would be appreciated.
