Martha G. (Green) Clark of Battle Creek, MI, and formerly of Bedford Township, MI
Martha, age 92, died Monday morning, June 30, 2014 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, following a three week illness.
Martha, the daughter of Herbert C. and Hazel (Colles) Green, was born on February 22, 1922 in Bedford, MI; was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Martha was a homemaker, seamstress, and secretary for the Bedford Schools. Martha enjoyed many crafts, especially crocheting, cooking, sewing and ceramics. She also enjoyed fishing with her friends and family.
Martha was united in marriage to Burton W. "Burt" Clark, Jr. on July 22, 1939 in Battle Creek and he preceded her in death on August 17, 2008. During their 69 years of marriage, the couple had three sons. Surviving sons are William B. Clark of Battle Creek and Larry D. (Jacqueline R.) Clark of East Leroy, MI; two grandchildren, Carley R. Clark and Collin C. Seigle; a great-grandchild, Marley M. Seigle; her sister, Gertrude C. Green of Battle Creek and several nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Wesley B. Clark; sisters, Gladys I. Clark and Marguerite L. Lewis and brother-in-laws, William Lewis, Wesley E. Clark, and Stanley Green.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Martha's life will be held on Thursday, July 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek, with Rev. Carolyn A. Robinson-Fisher of Battle Creek, officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2nd from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Martha's honor may be directed to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, 166 East Goodale Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49037.
