Mary Wilmurth (Ahart) Barnes of Battle Creek, MI

Mary, age 72, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. She was born December 13, 1943 the daughter of Thomas T. and Hazel (Shaw) Ahart in Hammond, IN. She was a graduate of Hammond Technical High School. She worked as a waitress, and in retail in customer service at K-Mart retiring in 2006. Mary enjoyed stamp collecting at Battle Creek & Kalamazoo Clubs and Calco Quilting Guild Battle Creek. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Mary was married to Judson H. Barnes on January 26, 1984 in Battle Creek, MI. He survives. In addition to her husband; Mary is survived by two daughters, Rosemary (Michael) Swanson Ogorek of Munster, IN, Margie (Michael) Cowan of Mesa, AZ; a son, Allen L Swanson of Gary, IN; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Ahart; a sister, Betty Wheatley. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William (Bill) Ahart.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, June 7th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Battle Creek with Rev. Linda Stoddard, Pastor of the Maple United Methodist Church of Battle Creek, officiating. Mary's family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions in Mary's honor may be directed to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
