Mary Josephine (Hanna) Bauserman

Mary Josephine (Hanna) Bauserman, 104, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully at The Reflections on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

She was born March 19, 1912 in Bluffton, Indiana to Otto and Elsie (Green) Hanna. She grew up in Bluffton and came to Battle Creek at the age of 16. Mary was employed three years at the former Woolworth Dime Store and seven years at Sears & Roebuck in Downtown Battle Creek. During that time she attended nursing school at the former Jefferson School of Nursing and Community Hospital Nursing Program, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. Mary was employed as a nurse at the former Battle Creek Sanitarium Hospital for ten years, until 1972.

Mary was preceded in death by two husbands, her first husband, Quinton Howe died in 1949 and her second husband, Clyde Bauserman died in 1968. Surviving are her son, Richard L. (Alice) Howe of Huntington Beach, California; three stepsons, Kenneth (Sue) Bauserman of Saginaw, John (Eunice) Bauserman of Battle Creek, David (Erika) Bauserman of St. Augustine, FL and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and their families..

In addition to her husbands, Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Lottie Romine, Ruby Sherry, Dorothy Gill, Mildred Green; two brothers, Fred and Robert Hanna; a step granddaughter, Nancy Lehmann; and a step grandson, Timmy Bauserman.

Mary was a former member of The First Presbyterian Church, Baseline United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, crocheting, children, helping people, working with plants, and playing pool.

A brief prayer, committal and inurnment was held at Memorial Park Cemetery 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2016.
