Mary Jo Fruin passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 19th, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Albion, MI on October 27th, 1957, to James and Bonnie (Nelson) Tuyls, Mary Jo, to all who know her, was a unique, and caring individual and touched many lives. She married Martin (Marty) Fruin on November 14th, 1981. Mary Jo was a devoted Daughter, Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, who would give without question to those in need, always putting others first. Mary Jo had a heart as big as the ocean. She was totally dedicated to her children and grandchildren in all aspects of their lives.
Mary Jo graduated from Battle Central High School in 1975. She worked for Battle Creek Health Systems for 30+ years as a Support Services Manager, retiring in 2018. Her hobbies included county fairs, casinos, spending time with her family, and anything Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her father James Tuyls.
She is survived by her beloved husband Marty Fruin of 40 years, her mother Bonnie Tuyls, and children Jonathon Chilton, Macey Kintigh, Christopher (Stephanie) Fruin and Amber (James) Wetherill, all of Battle Creek. Nine grandchildren Kaylee, Kaycie, Mykhalia, Zoey, Averie, Oliver, Mykenzie, Isabella, Clark and two great grandchildren. Nine siblings, Debbie (Tom) Williamson, Pati (Keith) Rodriguez, Cindy Johnston, James (Kim) Tuyls, Becky Tuyls, Jody (Tim) Born, Vicki Tuyls, Todd (Erin) Tuyls, Troy (Jennifer) Tuyls. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 105 Capital Avenue NE, Battle Creek MI with her nephew, Pastor Jason Rodriguez officiating.
