Mary Buckley Messerly of Richland, MI
Mary, age. 59 died peacefully Tuesday evening, April 5, 2016 at her residence with her loving family at her side.
Mary, the daughter of Spencer L. and Cleopha G. (Flannery) Buckley, was born in Bad Axe, MI on October 15, 1956; a 1975 graduate of Bad Axe High School and received her Bachelor in Accounting from Michigan State University. She retired in 2013 after 35 years of faithful service as an Accountant for General Motors Company at the World Headquarters. Mary was an avid sports fan especially following Spartan basketball, the Tigers and the Lions. She enjoyed working in her gardens; loved the Blues and was the "Planner" for everything and anything.
Mary was a devoted wife and loving daughter and sister. She was united in marriage to Eric R. Messerly in Lake Orion, MI on April 16, 1988 and he survives. Also, surviving is her mother Cleo Buckley of Bad Axe, MI; two sisters, Sue B. (J. Michael) Smith of Brighton, MI and Kathryn A. (Dr. David) Christ of Kalamazoo, MI; her brother, Robert C. Buckley of Port Austin, MI and was a loving aunt to Andy, Sarah, Jon, Patrick, Brooke, Bo, Laura and Eric. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Spencer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012, with Father James F. Adams, officiating and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Family and friends will continue Mary's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon at the Gull Lake Country Club, immediately following the Mass. Memorial contributions in Mary's honor may be directed to St. Ann Catholic Church or Special Olympics of Michigan. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is assisting Mary's family with her arrangements.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Michael Raphelson, Medical Director for the Hospice Care of Southwestern Michigan; the loving care provided by Chrissie, Darci and Bethany and to Father James Adams for his Spiritual Guidance.
