Marylyn Kay Kain

November 1, 1943 — April 22, 2024

Battle Creek

Marylyn Kay Kain, age 80, of Battle Creek, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 22, 2024.   She was born on November 1, 1943, the daughter of George W. and Mary E. (Fry) Beardsley. Marylyn was a lifelong resident and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.

She married Douglas E. Kain in 1964 and they had three beautiful daughters, Christy, Hope and Faith.

Marylyn retired from the Kellogg Company in 1994.  She had previously worked at Ann J. Kellogg School and Coburn School as a teacher’s aide and at Ermisch Travel  as a secretary.

Marylyn was an active member of Battle Creek Friends Church and their Bible Study group, a TOPS healthy living member and served as a “Foster Grandma” for the Battle Creek Public Schools for many years.  She was a huge Detroit Tigers fan.  Marylyn enjoyed being outdoors, spending time in South Haven at the beach, and taking trips with her friends.  She was a wonderful grandma and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.  But most of all, she loved sharing about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Marylyn is survived by her daughters, Christy (Eric) Agne of Battle Creek, Hope (John) Bearden of Byhalia, Mississippi, and Faith (Robert) Frazine of Lake Mary, Florida; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Rebekah) Sammons, Jacob (Mattison) Sammons, Katherine (Noah) Dawson, and Kyra Frazine; great-grandchildren, John Archer Sammons and soon-to-be-born, Kain Matthew Sammons; her sister-in-law, Marsha Beardsley; and several nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Douglas E. Kain; and two brothers, George Allen Beardsley and James Wynn Beardsley.
