Melissa Dee Hughes

Melissa Dee Hughes, age 46, of Springfield, sadly passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, September 26, 2018. She was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on November 18, 1971, the daughter of David R. and Brenda S. (Clutter) Woods Sr. and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.

Melissa was truly a cheerful, loving and giving young lady and was always there to give you one of her "Hugs". She enjoyed playing darts, playing cards with her morning group at Speed's, board games and singing Karaoke; but her true love in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Melissa is survived by her mother, Brenda (Bob) Landers of Battle Creek; her children, Deesa Millirans and Randy MacPherson, both of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren; her brothers, David (Wendy) MacPherson of Springfield and Timothy (Lisa) Woods of Washington; her sister, Gini (Roger) Williams of Battle Creek; two half-sisters, Becky Yingling and Micki Childs; her special aunt, Bobbi Smith of Battle Creek; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angelia MacPherson; her father, David R. Woods, Sr., and her grandparents.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. The family has asked that in memory of Melissa's bright and colorful personality that everyone please wear bright colors.
