It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Michael Lynn Lockwood, 70, of Galesburg, MI.
Mike was born September 2, 1955 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Donald Lockwood, Sr. (Dolores) and Evelyn (Morley) Lockwood. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend to many including several nieces and nephews and always willing to help where needed, especially his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Garry Henson. Mike had many life-long friends from Augusta and Galesburg and was a 1974 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School.
Mike was an avid car enthusiast, he could take apart and fix anything, especially mechanical. He enjoyed watching racing from Galesburg Speedway to NASCAR. He owned many muscle cars and had a 1965 Dodge Polara which he restored and showed in car shows. He was aways up for a road trip with friends, especially to Montana. Mike loved his 55-acre farm raising cows and pigs in the early years. He loved the outdoors, riding ATVs, snowmobiles and dune buggies; spending the past few years on the farm gardening, cleaning trails, clearing trees and selling quality hardwoods.
Mike worked with his father and brother at Joe’s Marathon Station in Augusta fixing and painting cars beginning at 12 years of age until after high school. After graduation Mike worked as a journeyman machinist at Union Pump in Battle Creek for many years. Mike left to start his own successful business as a mechanic, before moving on to Flowserve retiring after 10 years of service.
Mike is survived by his brother, Donald Lockwood, Jr. (Kathy), sisters, Dawn Henson, Shelly Elsey (Chris) and Angela Lockwood.
