With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael E. Low, of Augusta, MI, on April 18, 2026, at the age of 79. Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to the love of his life and soulmate, Margaret Low, for 58 remarkable years. Together for over 60 years.
A passionate and respected educator for nearly 40 years, Mike dedicated his career to serving students, teachers, and athletes. Before retiring, he held many distinguished positions within the Catholic School System, including Principal of St. Philip Catholic, Athletic Director of Nazareth College, and a beloved Principal and homeroom teacher at St. Joseph. He believed deeply in the power of learning and community, inspiring countless students and colleagues over the decades.
Known for his great patience and deep humor, Mike was one of three children raised in Kalamazoo. A star athlete during his time at University High, he went on to graduate with honors from Kalamazoo College and earned his Master’s degree from Western Michigan University. Mike's lifelong love for sports is a legacy that lives on with his family.
He will be remembered by so many for his ability to get the most out of life. He skillfully balanced his incredible talent as an educator and administrator—shaping future generations of kids—with loving his wife, guiding his family, and knowing how to have one heck of a good time.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his children, Elizabeth, Catie, Matt, and Rick; Brothers Tom and Pat, eight Grandchildren; and two Great-Grandchildren.
A Celebration of Michael's Life will be announced here, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the West Michigan Cancer Center or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Thank you,
The Low Family
