Michael Eugene Walker

With great sorrow we announce Michael Eugene Walker, 69, died at his home in St. Joseph, MI with his wife, Kathy (Rayburn) Walker, by his side. On June 19, 2025 his fight against ILD ended in peace.

Michael was born November 25, 1955, to Omar and Marian (Hussey) Walker in Battle Creek, MI. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Joni Lynn Walker; his parents; brother, Clinton Walker and sister, Katherine (Walker) Banks. He is survived by his wife of 47 years; son, Jason (Jami) Walker; grandchildren Hayden and Hayleigh; brothers, Frank (Sheila) Walker, and Gary (Terry) Walker.

Michael’s (Mike) greatest passions were Popeye the Sailor and water. Mike and his wife visited the birthplace of the comic strip, and he collected anything associated with the character. His vacations took him to waterfalls, lakes and the ocean. From his residence, near Lake Michigan to Niagara to the waterfalls of Tennessee and the Atlantic, off the coast of Florida, if there was water, he was happy.

Mike’s last employment was at Four Wind Casino where he gained many friendships. He enjoyed interacting with people and was always there to lend an ear, a helping hand, words of encouragement. His employment history from nurse aide, medical first responder, patient service rep., and security, reflects how he was always associated with helping others. Mike had many friends and was a friend to many.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Farley Estes Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek, MI. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the Living Hope Community Church, 9292 East CD Ave., Richland, MI. A small social gathering will be available following the service as no interment due to cremation. In lieu of flowers, any donations to be used toward funeral services or Shriners Hospitals for Children if preferred.
