Michael A. "Mike" Watson

February 24, 1965 — July 2, 2022

Michael A. "Mike" Watson Sr., age 57, of Ceresco passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 2, 2022 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Mike was born in Oak Lawn, Illinois on February 24, 1965, the son of Arthur and Patricia (Zweck) Watson and graduated from Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, IL with the Class of 1983. In 1985, Mike joined the family business of hauling steel, leasing to Steel Transport, G&F Trucking, Masters Transportation & Haddad International, and also trip leased for O&I Transport.

Mike married Lori A. (McDaniels) Watson at their home in Ceresco on February 10, 2022; she survives. He is also survived by his son, Michael (Kathryn) Watson Jr. of Parma; two step-children, Merissa White and Chris White, both of Battle Creek; his granddaughters, Ada & Kinsley Watson; step-granddaughter, Marcella Clemons; brothers, Rich (Nicole) Watson and Jason Watson; aunts, Marilyn S. Watson, Marilyn A. Watson, Nancy Paus; and dozens of cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts & uncles.

Mike was always the "Host with the Most" and the "Life of the Party". He loved nothing more than being with his friends & family. Mike loved to camp, side by sides, traveling, motorcycling, and was always on the go. He took great pride in his work, home and life in general. Mike was a generous contributor to many great causes & charities. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron #298, the American Legion Riders Post #298, and the OOIDA.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 17th at the American Legion Post #298, 228 N. 20th St., Springfield where the Post #298 Ladies Auxiliary will provide a light luncheon at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Mike's family, c/o Lori Watson, to establish a fund for his granddaughters. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
