Michael D. "Buckwheat" Wheat, 49 died at his home on August 22, 2013. Mike was born July 29, 1964 in Adrian, MI. He graduated from Lansing Eastern in 1982. He worked at Post Cereal in Battle Creek for 23 years. Proceeded in death by his grand-parents, and father Dwayne Wheat. Survived by his wife Shawna, three sons, Doug (Maleah), Paul (Trella) and Scott (Rachel), three grandchildren, Cameron, Avery & Garrett, mother Kathy (Rod) Lindner, sister Stephanie (Mike) Allen, step brother Todd (Kellie) Lindner, step sister Amy (Yatin) Khanna. In-laws, Mike and Robin Katz, brother-in-laws Clint, Aaron (Leslie), Ryan (Kelly), Steven (Sharon), sister-in-law Lindsey. Also by his numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Mike enjoyed golfing, hunting, watching the Redwings, and MSU football.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14th @ 11:00am @ Gunnisonville Cemetery, Lansing, with Pastor Ken Bremer officiating. A gathering of family and friends following the service will be held at
Pilgrim United Methodist Church, 2965 W. Parks Rd. St. Johns, MI. Also an upcoming memorial is planned on Saturday, September 28th at 4:30p in Battle Creek at the Robin's Nest,16181 10 Mile Rd., 49014. Directions to Gunnisonville Cemetery from Battle Creek: Take I-94 E via EXIT 1A toward Detroit. Merge onto I69 N via EXIT 108 toward Lansing. Keep right to take I69 N via EXIT 91 toward Flint. Take the Old 27 EXIT 87. Turn right onto S Old US 27. Turn left onto E. Clark Rd. Go 1 mile to Wood Rd.

Directions to Pilgrim United Methodist Church from Gunnisonville Cemetery:
Take Clark Rd. to Old US 27. Turn right (north) on Old US 27. Drive approximately 12 miles to W. Parks Rd. (Andy T's Farm Market is on the right side of the road just before W. Parks Rd.) Turn left on W. Parks Rd. Go 2 miles. Pilgrim United Methodist Church is on the left side of the road at the corner of W. Parks and DeWitt Rds.
