Mildred Edna Conners

March 15, 1931 — June 21, 2016

Mildred Edna Conners, 85, born in Standish, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Nita (Wainwright) Rulason. Married for 53 years to William Ivan Conners of Detroit, Michigan. Lived in Kalamazoo with her husband, 3 daughters and 1 son.


Mildred was a hard working housewife and stay-at-home Mom, who took pride in caring for her family. She loved country music and 60's Rock n' Roll, enjoyed gardening, garage saling, arts & crafts, word find puzzles, playing cards with friends and family, having outdoor cookouts, spending time with her sisters, and most of all, she enjoyed quality time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband William in 2003, her parents, siblings; Gertrude, Gladys, Marietta, Jessie, Loretta, Leona, Leonard, Frank and William, her niece Shirley, and several friends, including her best friend and blueberry picking buddy, Clarice Qualls.

She is survived by her four children: Deborah Rodriguez, Beverly Conners, Kenneth Conners, Sandra Conners (William Eaton - son-in-law), two granddaughters; Heather Conners and Leigh Ann Conners, two great-grandchildren; Courtney Goodman and Levon Hicks, one sister: Mary Lou (Rulason) Harris, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo, 2400 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001, 269-276-4046, in memory of Mildred Conners.

There will be a graveside service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, followed by a cookout (In honor of Mildred's love of cookouts) at Ramona Park, at 12:30 p.m. Be sure to bring your bathing suit and your appetite!

Note: There is a $5.00 park entrance fee per car, so we suggest you carpool.
