Mildred L."Millie" Forrest

Mildred L. "Millie" Forrest, age 99, of Augusta, passed away on Sunday morning, October 22, 2017. She was born in Waterford, Connecticut on April 4, 1918, the daughter of Henry C. and Louise (Pray) Heron. She graduated from a private school, "The Women Memorial Institute".

Mildred was married and had six children, several grandchildren, including five generations. She had an interesting career as a chef, specializing in seafood and Hors d'oeuvres at Brook Lodge (Upjohn Co.) She met and cooked for Walt Disney, Art Linkletter's sons, Jack and Dale Robertson. Millie retired in 1977.

Millie loved her friends and family dearly and enjoyed cooking for them. She used to meet with her friends at the Augusta VFW and they were called "The Golden Girls". She belonged to the "British Music Hall Society". Millie's grandfather was Knighted by the Crown heads of England and she was related to Priscilla Alden and John Smith.

Millie was preceded in death by her children's father, Dudley Snow Sr., who died at an early age. Also her late husbands, Ernie Alm of Augusta and Ted Forrest of Battle Creek; and two daughters, Naomi (Glen) Jensen and Ruth (Raymond) Lanteigne. Mildred is survived by four of her six children, Elaine (Ken) Blue of Augusta, Dan (Marlene) Snow of Battle Creek, Penny (Mike) Mario of Battle Creek and Dudley (Dolly) Snow of Waukegan, Illinois. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces & nephews.

Millie was a life-member of the Augusta VFW Auxiliary Post #7956 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #298, Battle Creek.

Graveside services to celebrate Millie's life will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Fort Custer National Cemetery with Pastor Scott Bouldrey of the Augusta Fellowship United Methodist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Augusta VFW Post # 7956. Arrangements by Farley Estes Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel.
