Nancy L. Chantrene, Battle Creek

Nancy L. Chantrene, 70, of Battle Creek, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday afternoon, August 5, 2025. She was born in Battle Creek on December 26, 1954, the daughter of Jesse H. and Lois J. (Sult) Finney.

Nancy married Rhan B. Chantrene in Battle Creek on January 7, 1972: he sadly preceded her in death on June 26, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy S. Fox and Joy L. Chantrene; a son, Nevin Chantrene; 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Angel), Edward (Rylee), Haylee (Jack); Jessica (Caleb), Paige (Keanu), Alyssa, and Todd (Brii) Jr.; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda (Allan) Blankenship; a sister-in-law, Sandy Finney; a special nephew, Billy Chadwick; and a special friend, Annie Stetler. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Todd Crane Sr.; and a brother, Richard Finney.

Nancy loved holiday BBQ’s and family events, spending time with her family, especially her oldest great-grandson. She also truly enjoyed taking care of her animals, especially her cat, “Summer”, tending to her garden, yardwork, going to the races, her frog collection, bird watching, fishing & camping.
