Nancy Jeannette (Ure) Day

Nancy Jeannette (Ure) Day, 77, of Battle Creek died peacefully with her family at her side at Bronson Battle Creek on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

Nancy was born February 19, 1940 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the daughter of James and Evelyn Viola (MacDonald) Ure. She grew up in Benton Harbor and Battle Creek and was a 1958 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Nancy began her career at WBCK in Battle Creek, She then took time off to have a family. In 1998, after 27 years with the Kellogg Company, Nancy retired from the Personnel department, where she was employed as a recruiter.

Nancy was formerly married to Jerry Lee Wolfersberger and Richard K Day. Surviving are her two daughters, Lynda K Hensel of Battle Creek and Mary Anne (Robert) Monast of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; two sons, James B. Wolfersberger of Battle Creek and Scott A. (Pamela) Wolfersberger of Marshall; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bruce E. Ure.

Nancy was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, was past president and twice named Woman of the Year by the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) Creekview Chapter (1979) and Unity Chapter (1984), was awarded the Golden Circle award for 50 years of dedicated service to Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and was also a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). An accomplished vocalist, Nancy was a long-time member of the Battle Creek Community Chorus and performed with the Marshall Civic Players in the 1980s. She also performed as a guest soloist with the Dick Day Trio and the Battle Creek Jazz Ensemble. More recently, she enjoyed Bunco, Mahjong, Dominoes, jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, and loved online shopping and puzzle games like Candy Crush Saga.

Nancy enjoyed the fellowship of her Lakeview Senior Living family, where she delighted in being a member of the welcoming committee, calling Bingo, going on field trips, playing cards, and was on board for just about any other group activity at the Center, too. She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and dear friend to many.

Friends will be received from 3:00-5:00 pm Sunday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. John D. Fleckenstein at St Philip Catholic Church at 11:00 am Monday, November 13, 2017. Committal and inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
