Nancy Loy (Beckett) Lee

Nancy Loy (Beckett) Lee, 84, of Battle Creek died Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Heritage Assisted Living, after a short illness.

Nancy was born January 3, 1935 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Loy and Beatrice (Smith) Beckett. She grew up in Springfield, IL, briefly in Arizona and then in San Diego, CA. Nancy was employed at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center, retiring as a Ward Administrative Secretary. Previously she was employed by several doctors, and Fisher Price in San Diego. After retiring they moved to Harrison Arkansas.

Nancy Loy Beckett was united in marriage to Richard N. Lee on September 11, 1966 in San Diego, CA. Nancy was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 51 years on January 4, 2018. Surviving four sons, Robin E. Lee, of Battle Creek, Kevin S. (Teresa) Lee of Ceresco MI, Richard F. L. (Tina) Lee of Galesburg MI, and Sean P (Bonnie) Lee of Crystal Lake IL; six grandchildren and one great grandson in the area; and one brother, Loy (Marilyn) Beckett of Palm Coast, FL. In addition to her husband, Nancy was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Decroix and her parents.

Nancy was a homemaker and while her husband was out to sea for months at a time serving in the U.S. Navy, she was at home running the household and raising her boys. Nancy was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing Cribbage and cards with her friends. She loved cheering for the Cubs. She also enjoyed bowling, and in her younger years traveling and camping across the country with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Nancy's family will receive friends 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home and Cremation Care, where services to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. A committal service will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
