Nancy Jean (Brondyke) Lester of Battle Creek, MI

Nancy, age 73, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, April 9, 2017 in Auburn, IN.

Nancy, the daughter of Jacob and Arlie (Knight) Brondyke, was born in Kalamazoo, MI on July 6, 1943; was a lifetime area resident and a 1961 graduate of Berkley High School. She was a stay at home mom while her children were small, taking an active part in their education. Once her children were grown, she became a Nurse's Aide to help those at the end stage of life.

Nancy was truly an angel sent from Heaven. She spent her life caring for others. She would do anything for anyone within her power. She truly enjoyed making others happy. When she wasn't doing for others, she enjoyed playing bingo, any kind of card game, reading and attending car shows with Jim. Nancy was the family's social butterfly, and loved spending any extra time with friends and family.

Nancy was united in marriage to James P. Lester, Sr. in Berkley, MI on January 9, 1965. Surviving is her husband of 52 years, Jim; her daughter, Cheri L. (Kevin) Douglas of Dayton, OH; her son, James P. Lester, Jr. of Battle Creek; 3 precious grandchildren (Kyle (Sammy) Patterson, Melissa Burnett, and Jenna Lester, plus 4 bonus grandchildren (Kristen (Mike) Smith, Corey (Kelly) Douglas, Chase (Tiffany) Wilkins and Savannah Wilkins), and two sisters (Margie (Tom) Kettinger from Mancelona MI and Christine Wright of Shelby Township, MI. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents

The Graveside Service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on Friday, April 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the Rev. Robert G. Muirhead, officiating. A Celebration of Life Service for Nancy will be held on Saturday, April 15th at the American Legion Post # 298, 228 N. 20th Street, Battle Creek, MI from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nancy's honor may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Foundation, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Nancy's family with her arrangements.
